About Susan G. Komen for the Cure
As Susan G. Komen was losing her battle with breast cancer, she and her sister Nancy G. Brinker often imagined what life would be like without breast cancer. During their goodbyes, Nancy promised her sister Suzy that she would do everything in her power to see that vision realized.
Nancy began to fulfill her promise by founding what is now the world's largest and most progressive breast cancer organization, Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, named in her sister's memory. The promise whispered long ago between two sisters still echoes around the globe.
Thanks to events like the Komen Sacramento Race for the Cure, we have invested nearly $10 million in breast health education and outreach, screening and support services, to help the women in the Sacramento Valley. Up to 75 percent of Komen Sacramento's net income stays in the Affiliate's 17-county service area. A minimum or 25 percent of the remaining net income supports the Komen Award and Research Grant Program.
Join Komen's Promise:
To save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures. |
